1. Who is responsible
[LEGAL NAME] provides Wantic. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to [email protected]. Website owners who install Wantic’s snippet are responsible for their own notices and lawful use of analytics on their sites.
2. Data Wantic may process
| Data | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Website domain | Associates analytics with the correct website and validates incoming events. |
| Optional website display name | Helps the website owner recognize a site in the app and widgets. |
| Website identifier | Routes events and app requests to the correct analytics record without relying on the display name. |
| Event time | Places visits in the correct day and supports history, heatmaps, and summaries. |
| Anonymous random browser identifier | Estimates unique visitors without using a name, email address, advertising identifier, or browser fingerprint. |
| Two-letter country code | Provides aggregate country and map views. It is derived at request time. |
| Aggregated daily visitor counts | Shows traffic totals, trends, widgets, and notifications. |
| Subscription status and purchase history | Determines access to Wantic Pro and supports purchase restoration. Apple and RevenueCat process this information. |
| Notification preferences | Controls requested summaries. These preferences are stored on the user’s device. |
3. Data Wantic does not intentionally collect
Wantic does not intentionally collect visitor names, visitor email addresses, form values, advertising identifiers, full page URLs, referrers, browser fingerprints, or full IP addresses as stored analytics data.
Infrastructure providers may temporarily handle network information, including an IP address, to deliver and secure requests. Wantic uses the request to derive a two-letter country code and does not store the full IP address in its analytics records.
4. Anonymous identifiers
The tracking snippet creates a random browser identifier so repeat activity can be counted consistently without trying to identify the visitor. It is not created from browser characteristics and is not intended to reveal a person’s identity. Access to website analytics requires a private read token. In the iOS app, that token is stored in the iOS Keychain.
5. Visitor opt-out
A website visitor can opt out on a site using Wantic by setting visitor_widget_opt_out to true in that site’s localStorage. The website owner should provide a suitable control or instructions when required for their audience.
6. Sharing and service providers
Wantic does not use analytics data for advertising. Data may be processed by the following service providers only as needed to operate the service:
- Apple processes App Store payments and subscription records under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
- RevenueCat helps verify subscription status and purchase history.
- Cloudflare provides infrastructure, hosting, request delivery, and security services.
These providers may process data in countries where they or their subprocessors operate.
7. Data retention and deletion
Anonymous analytics may be retained for up to 400 days to provide annual history and related views. Operational records may be kept for shorter or longer periods when reasonably needed for security, reliability, dispute handling, or legal obligations.
A Wantic user can delete a website from the app. This requests deletion of that website and its analytics data from active systems. Limited backup or security records may remain temporarily until they are overwritten or no longer needed.
8. Security
Wantic uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the data processed. These include limiting collected fields, using private access tokens, and storing those tokens in the iOS Keychain. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
9. International processing
Wantic and its providers may process data outside the country where a user or visitor is located. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the responsible party will use an appropriate legal mechanism.
10. Children’s privacy
Wantic is not directed to children, and it is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Wantic, contact us so the concern can be reviewed.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal data, and a right to complain to a local authority. These rights vary and may be subject to exceptions. Contact [email protected] to make a request. We may need enough information to verify the request and identify the relevant data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Wantic, our providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will show when the latest version applies. Material changes will be communicated where required.
